Tuesday Rock Roundup for 110706
Elton John blames Universal, his record label, for the bad sales of his new album The Captain and the Kid. He's publicly asked Universal to drop him as an artist, saying: "They didn't do anything to promote it. So if anybody from Universal is listening, do me a favor and drop me! Just drop me! I'm 59 years old now and I don't care anymore. I'm begging you -- just drop me!"
A new Queen studio album could be in stores next year. Guitarist Brian May tells London's Virgin Radio, "At the moment it's just a few tracks and let's see where it takes us. But I think it may turn into a complete new studio album." May added that he's "really enjoying exploring this territory with Paul."
If Van Halen were to reunite, bass player Michael Anthony would not be invited. Eddie Van Halen is not happy that Anthony continues to perform with Sammy Hagar and has replaced him with his 15-year-old son, Wolfgang. Wolfie has been in the studio with his father and uncle, drummer Alex Van Halen, and also played with V-H on a few songs during their 2004 reunion tour. Still no confirmation that a reunion with both David Lee Roth and Hagar next year etcetra etcetra, and GN'R's Chinese Democracy will be out any day now, too...yeah...
