Tuesday Rock Roundup

Bo Diddley is being remembered for his trend-setting rhythmic guitar work, his hand-crafted instruments, his good humor, and even his cooking skills. The charter inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame died Monday in Gainesville, Florida -- just over a year after his performing career was halted by a stroke. Three months after the stroke, he suffered a heart attack from which he never fully recovered.

Courtney Love says someone stole the last memento she had of her late husband Kurt Cobain -- his ashes! The grunge widow says she'd kept the late Nirvana frontman's remains hidden in a pink, teddy bear-shaped container, which was swiped from her home along with some jewelry and clothing.

David Gilmour has agreed to take part in a rare performance of one of Pink Floyd's earlier albums, Atom Heart Mother, in London later this month. The guitarist will join forces with an ensemble comprising the tribute band Mun Floyd, a brass section from the Royal College of Music and a 40-voice choir. The June 15th performance is being organized by Ron Geesin, who co-wrote the album's side-long epic "Atom Heart Mother Suite."

Alton Kelly -- who along with Stanley Mouse created posters for Bay Area concerts at the Fillmore Auditorium and other venues for the Grateful Dead, Journey, Steve Miller and others -- died Sunday at his Petaluma, California home due to complications from a long illness. He was 68.

Van Halen's Reunion Tour ended last night in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It appears they're still speaking to each other, too. They claimed yesterday that the band is going to stay together.
