Tuesday Rock Roundup
The search continues for Velvet Revolver's new singer. Drummer Matt Sorum says they've rehearsed with a couple of guys and are actually considering one of them. He said he's not ready to talk about who that might be in case they decide not to hire him. All he'll reveal right now is that he's really nice and easy to get along with, which is a huge change for the former Guns N' Roses band mates who had to put up with Axl Rose and then Scott Weiland. And speaking of Guns, Sorum says he believes that a GN'R reunion is likely. He tells Music-Radar-dot-com, "I'm sure it'll happen eventually. They could be having meetings about it right now. They could be in a bomb shelter, with Axl and Slash and Duff. And Izzy. Maybe even Steven Adler. I don't know. I'd probably be the very, very, very last guy to get the call."
More tracks have leaked from the infinitely delayed Guns n' Roses album Chinese Democracy on to the Internet. Of the nine tracks that recently leaked, six of them have leaked before: "Chinese Democracy," "Better," "The Blues," "Madagascar," "IRS" and "There Was a Time." These latest versions are clearer mixes and feature more production touches than when they first leaked. The three new songs are reportedly called "Riyadh and the Bedouins," "This I Love" and "If the World (Would End Today)." Of course all the leaks in the world don't mean we're any closer to the official release of the album, which Axl Rose started working on at some point in 1994. The world continues to wait, and not really care.
Steven Tyler is out of rehab. He was courtside when his Celtics shut down the Lakers in the NBA Finals. TMZ reported late last week that he is still undergoing outpatient treatment.
Sharon Osbourne says that Ozzfest will likely return to a traveling festival next summer, because she hasn't managed to kill Ozzy with work just yet.
Crosby, Stills and Nash will once again join forces with Neil Young, this time for a September 27th benefit in Oakland, California for the Seva Foundation. Founded by Wavy Gravy, the foundation aims to end world poverty. C-S-N are on tour with a show in Tucson, Arizona tonight. In addition, Graham Nash is working on as many as 13 projects, including a box set of his own material, one for Stephen Stills, a Crosby-Nash live album from 1993, the long awaited C-S-N box of demos and an unreleased album Stills did with Jimi Hendrix.
