Tuesday Rock Roundup

Bruce Springsteen is back in stores today with his 16th studio album, Working on a Dream. He started recording the disc just as he was finishing 2007's Magic. Springsteen says that he had this song, 'What Love Can Do.' But the album was already sort of full and he said, 'This is one of those songs that sounds like the first song of the next record.' And Brendan O'Brien, the disc's producer said, 'Well, let's make another one.'" The album was recorded in bits-and-pieces during the Magic tour, and does feature the late E Street Band keyboardist Danny Federici, who died during that tour.

Paul McCartney is back in stores today with the CD version of a four-song live EP. Amoeba's Secret, previously released on vinyl, was recorded in June 2007 at LA's Amoeba Music store. The tracks are "That Was Me," "I Saw Her Standing There," "Only Mama Knows" and "C Moon." The show was one of three "secret" gigs McCartney did in June 2007 in support of his Memory Almost Full album.

In other Macca news, Paul says he hopes The Beatles can reach an agreement with Apple to make their songs available on iTunes, but it has to be a special deal. He tells Business 24-7, "It's the usual thing, when it's a Beatles deal. It's a big deal - it's not like we're just some new act. And when you're talking about iTunes, obviously we've got to get a great deal. I think we're right, because we're The Beatles!"

28 Metallica tracks (including "Fade to Black," "One" and "Sad But True") will be featured on Guitar Hero: Metallica due out on March 29th. And fans that downloaded the Death Magnetic album for Guitar Hero: World Tour for X-box and P-S-3 will be able play all 10 songs in the full game mode. Songs by other bands on Guitar Hero: Metallica include Alice In Chains' "No Excuses," Foo Fighters' "Stacked Actors," Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Tuesdays Gone," Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy" and System of a Down's "Toxicity."

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason turns 65 today.

Cheap Trick has launched a YouTube channel featuring rare footage. The first clip is "Goodnight" filmed at the Budokan in Tokyo on their 1979 Dream Police tour. Access it at YouTube-dot-com-slash-CheapTrick.
