WEDNESDAY Rock Roundup

(We got distracted yesterday...busy St. Patrick's Day & all...)

There may be a reason why Bob Dylan is always touring. His neighbors in Malibu, California are complaining about the smell emanating from a portable toilet being used by workmen on his property. Apparently the smells that are blowing in the wind are making some neighbors sick, with one family taking refuge outside their bedrooms at night so they don't end up "Tangled Up In Poo". That same neighbor is so fed up that he installed five industrial-sized fans in his yard to try and blow the odor back at Dylan, but it's no match for the wind whipping off the Pacific Ocean. Malibu town officials are looking into the complaints. A spokesman for Dylan was unavailable for comment. He starts a tour of Sweden on Sunday...far from the port-a-johns of his workmen.

Last year, Fantasy Records re-released the first six Creedence Clearwater Revival albums. Each one was re-mastered and contained bonus tracks. Bass player Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford were fine with them being re-mastered, but not with the bonus tracks. Cook tells us those tracks were "outtakes from outtakes. Just absolute low-quality stuff." Cook and Clifford currently tour as Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

Judas Priest will follow the lead of The Who, Deep Purple, Van Morrison, Cheap Trick, Motley Crue and many others next year when they perform one of their albums in its entirety on tour. Priest will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1980 album, British Steel, which produced such Priest staples as "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight." As a result, plans to do their latest album, Nostradamus, in its entirety in concert has been put on hold.

Nowhere Man, the movie about John Lennon's early life, will be in theaters in December following the news that the Weinstein Company has acquired the U-S rights to the film.

The owners of the popular New York City pizzeria Artichoke Basile have announced plans to open a dessert joint called Led Zeppole -- named in honor of the band and the street fair pastry.
