One Weird-Ass Story
Jerry Garcia's widow wants the rights to her late husband's unpublished tapes -- and to get them, she's suing a company that she's actually part owner of. Deborah Koons Garcia charges that other partners in the limited liability corporation Jerry Garcia Estate L-L-C, which oversees the so-called "Garcia Tapes," are hampering her efforts to have the tapes professionally restored. She also says the corporation had been scheduled to dissolve by December 31st, 2005, but continues to exist. Late last year, one of the guitarist's daughters sued Koons Garcia over the workings of the same corporation. A California judge has scheduled a hearing on the matter for April 13th.
