Tuesday Rock Roundup

The Police's 30th anniversary reunion world tour will kick off May 28th at Vancouver's G-M Place. The tour moves through North America through early August, then heads to Europe before returning to North America in late October. Ticket prices are expected to average around 225 dollars, 90 dollars and 50 dollars. The tour is sponsored by Best Buy, which will be holding pre-sales for its Reward Zone members. A portion of the proceeds will go to WaterAid, an anti-poverty organization that seeks to provide access to safe water to poor people. Sting admitted that he never expected to do a Police tour, but one morning about three months ago "this light bulb went off in my head -- 'I'm gonna call Andy and Stewart and tell them that we should do a tour.' And I thought, well, it will surprise them." The trio said they'll only be playing Police songs and that they will not employ any backing musicians.

The settlement of The Beatles' lawsuit with Apple Computer has not only cleared the path for the group's albums to be sold through I-Tunes, but every online retailer. Neil Aspinall, the head of Apple Corps, tells Fox News that Beatles music will be available for downloading soon and that "it will be on all the services, not just one." Aspinall says that all 13 albums that were originally released on C-D in 1987 have been remastered and should be available in stores and for download all at the same time.

Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger says the lawsuit filed by drummer John Densmore to stop him and Ray Manzarek from touring under the band's name has put their plans to record a new album with singer Ian Astbury on hold. Densmore won the suit in 2005, causing Krieger and Mazarek to tour under the name Riders on the Storm. Krieger says he's still waiting for a final appeal of the suit to be heard, which won't be for six month. He adds, "I just wish the whole thing would get over with." Krieger says they've got the album about half done and that he thinks "it's gonna be real good."

And happy 57th Birthday to Peter Gabriel today, who has new music coming out and did not choose to join the Genesis Reunion Tour this year.
