Tuesday Rock Roundup

Are The Rolling Stones following in the footsteps of U2, Madonna, and Jay-Z? A U-K spokesman for The Stones is denying a report in London's Observer that they're on the verge of leaving EMI and signing with Live Nation. The rep says, "We are not in talks with Live Nation in connection with any record deal." EMI went private last year and as a result has lost some of its bigger artists, including Paul McCartney. Incidently, the chairman of Live Nation is also the promoter for The Stones.

Congress has recognized Paul Rodgers with a proclamation for his musical achievements and his philanthropic work with The Fender Center's Kids Rock Free music education program in California. Through his efforts, Rodgers has helped to raise more than 200-thousand dollars for the program.

Cheap Trick will be joined by Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan and Gov't Mule keyboardist Danny Louris June 28th at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles as the Rockford, Illinois band covers The Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. The Tricksters tackled the album last year at the Bowl to mark its 40th anniversary. The quartet will once again be joined on many songs by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

Metallica have settled on Death Magnetic as the title for their new album. The disc, produced by the band and Rick Rubin, still doesn't have a confirmed release date, but a trailer on the band's website says September. Metallica are expected to launch a North American tour right after the album comes out.

444 people had their faces painted as one of the characters of KISS in an attempt to set a world record for the most people made up as KISS congregated in one place on Friday at the Download Festival in Donington, England. The official world record application has been submitted and organizers are awaiting the results.
