300 Million Served

US POPULATION NEARS 300 MILLION (Posted 3:00 AM, 8/29/2006)

The Census Bureau estimates that the population of the United States will reach 300 million in October. The department keeps track of such things on its website [www.census.gov] and projects that its counter will pass that number in the middle of the month. The nation's population as of last night was 299,592,318, with the world population given as 6,540,555,467.
