Tues Rock Roundup 111406

The Cream reunions last year in London and New York are not likely to be repeated. Eric Clapton tells us that Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce don't get along, and that the three shows in New York were "really difficult." As a band, "it's finished." But he's glad that Baker, who was suffering from financial problems, is "now solvent." Clapton is currently on tour in Japan with a show in Osaka tomorrow night.

Joe Jagger, the former schoolteacher and father of Mick Jagger, died of pneumonia on Saturday. He was 93. Jagger flew home from Las Vegas on Friday to see his father and flew back the same day as The Rolling Stones had a show in Vegas on Saturday. Jagger's mother Eva died in 2000.

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson caused an accident that put a fellow U-K reality show contestant in the hospital Sunday night. Johnson is taking part in a show called The Race, and while taping the latest episode he clipped the car being driven by U-K rapper Ms. Dynamite. Her car spun out of control for more than 100 feet before coming to a stop. She spent the night in a hospital for observation. The band's guitarist Angus Young was recently named one of the richest people in The Netherlands. The Dutch business magazine Quote says that Young -- who has lived in the country for about 20 years -- is worth almost 95-million dollars.

Paul McCartney's handwritten lyrics to "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" from The Beatles' Abbey Road album will go up for auction on December 4th at Christie's in New York. Written on Apple Corps Limited stationery, the lyrics are a work in progress, with such altered lines as "Back in school again, Maxwell plays the ass again." The lyrics, from the collection of McCartney biographer Barry Miles, are expected to fetch between 200- and 300-thousand dollars.

Former KISS drummer Peter Criss is getting ready to release his fifth solo album. One for All contains 12 songs, including one about his former KISS bandmate, Ace Frehley, called "Space Ace." Ace, by the way, will now be the only original member of the band who hasn't put out a solo album in the two years. Peter's band on the album is Paul Shaffer and other members of the C-B-S Orchestra from the Letterman show. The album will be out early next year.

Ted Nugent has a new weapon in his arsenal -- a custom guitar with a built-in high-caliber Derringer pistol. The lethal instrument, made byEd Roman's Quicksilver Guitars, will be on display at the NAMM convention in Anaheim, California in January and at a gun show in Orlando, Florida the same month.

Jimi Hendrix's younger brother Leon will release an album next year containing versions of "Hey Joe" and "All Along the Watchtower." Leon will perform at a concert in his late brother's honor on November 27th in New York. Band of Gypsys drummer Buddy Miles will also be on the bill.

Steve Miller has posted a notice on his website SteveMillerBand.com saying he will tour next year, with dates to be announced soon. Miller wrapped up his 2006 tour earlier this month.

U-2 has put up a website containing tracks from their upcoming compilation, 18 Singles. Log onto U218.com for song samples, videos and more.
