Why?

For some ungodly reason, the exceptional Sci Fi classic from the 50's The Day The Earth Stood Still is being remade. Principal shooting began December 12th in Vancouver.

Keanu Reeves (whooooa) will be starring as Klaatu, which would be like casting Lindsay Lohan as Maria in a remake of The Sound Of Music.

After the Tom Cruise treatment that was given to The War Of The Worlds, another great 50's Sci-Fi remake that offended the senses (they should have just called it Dakota Fanning Screaming and been done with it...), I'm more than a little nervous about this.
